| 10 g | ₹1,700 | ₹1,574 | ₹1,361 |
| 50 g | ₹8,500 | ₹7,870 | ₹6,807 |

| 1 kg | ₹1,70,000 | ₹1,57,407 | ₹1,36,136 |
Silver is priced by the gram of fine (999) silver. Every piece is valued by its pure silver content, so a 925 sterling item is worth 92.5% of the same weight in fine silver.
Here is the sum with the default numbers. 100 grams of 999 silver at ₹170 a gram is worth ₹17,000. An 8% making charge adds ₹1,360, and 3% GST on both adds ₹550.80, so you pay ₹18,910.80, about 11% above the silver in it.
Selling works the other way. The jeweller values only the silver, then takes a deduction, often 3% to 10%. The same 100 grams sold with a 5% deduction gets ₹16,150. The making charge and GST you paid are gone, which is why coins and bars with low making charges are the cheaper way to hold silver.
The rate is filled with an approximate market rate when the page loads. It tracks the world price, so it is close to the bullion rate but can differ from your local shop by a few rupees a gram. Use your jeweller's rate when you are about to buy or sell.
