Estimate. Your employer's payroll has the exact figure.
Two kinds of deductions come off your gross pay: tax and social security. Wage tax follows the income tax tariff in § 32a EStG. The basic allowance in 2026 is €12,348, above which the rate rises smoothly from 14% to 42%, with 45% from about €278,000. Your tax class does not change the tax for the year, only how much your employer holds back each month. The final figure comes with your tax return.
Social security is split roughly half and half between you and your employer. Your share in 2026: health insurance 7.3% plus half your fund's extra contribution, pension 9.3%, unemployment 1.3% and long-term care 1.8%, or 2.4% if you are 23 or older with no children. Health and care stop at €5,812.50 a month, pension and unemployment at €8,450. Pay above those caps is free of contributions.
The result is an estimate without child or personal allowances. To compare with an offer at home, convert the net with the currency converter, or set it against the UK take-home pay calculator. The inflation calculator shows what a raise is worth in real terms.
